Berkeley

Draft Ordinance:

The City Council’s Referral, originally received on May 26, 2015, and refined and resubmitted on June 23, 2015, requests the Planning Commission to consider legalizing short-term rentals (STRs) in both single-family and multi-family buildings with additional provisions and guidelines (Attachment 1).
This Staff Report includes a Draft Ordinance based on the City of San Jose Ordinance. The Draft Ordinance includes City Council direction from the Referral, along with discussion items that need direction from the Planning Commission.
Staff asks that the Commission hear public comment and provide input, which will be taken into account in the next iteration of the Draft Ordinance. The STR subject is a moving target, awaiting additional input from other City bodies and departments, so a final timeline for a Public Hearing has not yet been determined.
