Proposed Ordinance:
The Redding Planning Commission on Tuesday evening unanimously recommended a draft ordinance that for the first time would regulate the growing Airbnb and VRBO (vacation rental by owner) markets in the city.
Under the rules, short-term rentals would be separated into two categories. Rentals as hosted home stays would be capped at 120 days a year, while vacation rentals would in essence abide by the same rules as bed and breakfast inns and obtain a site development permit.
